A brief history
Time does not seem to pass in the Alpujarra. Today you still see workers with their mules working the land and harvesting their almonds and olives. Their traditions are imbedded in the deepest part of their souls and they take great pride in working the land. The beauty of the mountains, the sun that always shines, contact with nature, and the kind, generous people all make this district a favourite one to live in.
Traditions that go back to the Moors are still present in the gastronomy of the towns. “Tapas” are still a custom that is given to the client when indulging on a cold glass of beer or glass of wine.
Nature walks, scenic drives, horseback riding, skiing, enjoying the sea and sun are of many activities one can enjoy while living in this area.
